DCF invited all its 2017 and 2018 grantees to a day of networking and learning from each other. A total of 24 grantees made the trip to the James Irvine Conference Center in Oakland, CA. The meeting day held a mix of presentations (Collaboration by LaPiana and Maker Movement by Jamie Crum & Joshua Miele), and small-group breakout sessions where 2018 grantees introduced their new projects and 2017 grantees shared their lessons learned at the end of their successful grant projects.
The feedback from the grantees after the event was very encouraging:
All participants who provided feedback stated that the event met or exceeded their expectations. The small group break-out sessions were rated as “very useful” or “extremely useful” by 80% of the respondents. Of the respondents, 95% indicated that the participation in the gathering will likely (65%) or possibly (30%) result in exchange and collaboration with other DCF grantee organizations.
We are looking forward to the next iteration of the Grantee Gathering in January 2019.
