Disability Communications Fund is now named Ability Central

April 29th, 2019

We’re pleased to share this news with you: We have chosen Ability Central as the new name for a core part of our work.

Ability Central is now the name for three programs of California Communications Access Foundation - two social enterprises to be launched later this year and our philanthropic arm, the Disability Communications Fund.

As you know, we have been making grants and collaborating with community leaders to improve communication and information access for people with disabilities since 2010.

We selected Ability Central because we believe that the ability to communicate is a fundamental human right and our quest is to ensure that more people enjoy this right fully. Ability Central also speaks to our role as an ally, a convener, and a funder as we foster collaboration and serve as a resource hub to the disability community.

As we look ahead, Ability Central is seeking to expand our collaboration with the disability community, our grantees, and other funders who are passionate about serving people with disabilities.

Please note that our 2020 Grant Cycle will be announced in June 2019. The name change will not affect your current grant contract or the system for reports. If you have any questions, please contact us at grants@abilitycentral.org.
